In an effort to streamline the procedures in the Shelby County Probate Clerk’s Office, attached please find a worksheet for estimating final court costs due on a case, effective immediately. The worksheet is geared towards estates, guardianships and trusts.
The first page of the worksheet is for you to complete with the documents the attorney has yet to file, including stating what the total number of pages for each document will be. Based on the total number of pages, you will then calculate $1.00 per page, plus the flat fee for each document (if any), to get your subtotal for each pleading to be filed. There are several “other” lines listed at the bottom of the first page to fill in any document to be filed that is not already listed. We also ask that you verify the last pleading submitted to the Court for filing, to ensure those costs are captured in the cost estimate as well.
Once you have completed the first page, please submit the entire worksheet to our Clerk’s Office either by hand delivery, mail or fax. Our fax number is located on the second page. Upon receipt of your worksheet, a Clerk will then calculate the costs listed on the second page, and will notify you in 24 hours either by telephone or email, if you provide an email address as noted on the second page, of what your estimated final costs for the case will be.
